Personal History: Sebek on the wiki
Sebek is the youngest child of a powerful, nocturnal fae and a human dentist with no magic ability. His parents' marriage wasn't a popular one despite how much Sebek's fae mother courted his human father. His grandfather greatly disapproved of his daughter's choice as well. Sebek's brother and sister likely take after their mother in magical talent and appearance. Sebek is implied to take after his father. He was a "late bloomer" when it came to his magic, and Sebek lacks the pointed ears most fae have.
Living as a half-fae in a land rich in magic wasn't easy. Only the human, Silver, was around his age. Sebek was mistaken for human or worse a magic-less human. His magic eventually came to him, and he had to work hard on it while also training with Silver and Silver's fae father, Lilia. He and Silver would both become guardsmen for the crown prince, Malleus. Malleus and Lilia would join Night Raven College, and the following year, Silver joined them in the Diasomnia dorm.
Sebek enrolled a year after Silver, but Sebek couldn't relax until the Mirror chose Diasomnia for him. He kept up his training while at school, adding the Equestrian Club to it. The only real thing of note thus far was the sabotaged Spelldrive Tournament. Thanks to the intervention of students from other dorms, the Diasomnia team escaped being trampled and were able to help calm the stampede of people. Sebek worked with Silver to evacuate citizens, even if he didn't like Silver ordering him around.
Then things continued as normal... as normal as they could be at a magical school while serving one's prince and housewarden.
Personality:
Sebek is said to expend a lot of energy for very little results. He takes his duty very seriously, almost too seriously. Despite Malleus being one of the top 5 strongest mages in the world and many years older than him, Sebek will not let his guard down when it comes to serving him. He has strong views on how someone should act. Orientation is a solemn event, so everyone should behave accordingly... although, even he has to exclaim his joy at joining the same dorm as Malleus. Many of his activities are focused on bettering himself to serve Malleus. He'll even prepare an application for the Equestrian Club ahead of time to reduce the risk of it filling up before he can join. He keeps up a careful, proper appearance, stiff, tall, put together. He is the image of Diasomnia's noble spirit as expected of him.
There are those who doubt his ability, question the choice to entrust the crown prince's safety to him, so he won't give them room for critique. Sebek will be the best guardsman he can be for Malleus, even if he must resort to "tricks" because his left-handedness gives him an edge in sparring.
Yet, that loud, forward, almost single-minded, nature hides that Sebek is insecure about who he is and his place in the world. Sebek grew up as society has taught him: his parents shouldn't have gotten together, they shouldn't have had children. Not having magic in Briar Valley is abnormal and absurd when most everything requires magic to function. It does not help that Sebek's parents were busy at their dentistry clinic, leaving Sebek to wander around his grandfather's home. Young Sebek wasn't neglected by his family, but them being busy didn't help to teach Sebek that a half-fae boy who looks human and struggles with his magic is okay. That his short comings and being more like his father are okay.
He has an awkward relationship with his father. His father adores Sebek, showing complete awe of his magic, giving him sweets unprompted, and being nothing but smiles. Sebek doesn't realize that many of his father's mannerisms are like how he is around Malleus. The compliments showered upon him are embarrassing (as they might for any child his age) and tinged with the "knowledge" that a human's view doesn't mean as much. His father doesn't know better. His mother, on the other hand, should be praised and admired. He has no problem talking about her with pride. The family goes by her family name, not his father's.
That doesn't mean Sebek is blameless for how he treats humans. He will call humans "human" and brag about how Briar Valley is superior in many ways. He has a fierce pride in his homeland and being fae, acting like he knows more than he does. And yet, he is also quick to admire someone's skills and talents, human or otherwise. His words come out hard and direct, but there is actually a lack of real animosity. He's not used to being around people his age, and he struggles to show pride in his homeland and fae lineage without also putting down others. He doesn't exactly know how to relate to a human in a positive manner despite being half-human himself. It's almost like he fears that if he doesn't show he's 100% proud of Briar Valley, he'll be seen as less. He doesn't want to appear different or fail unreasonably high expectations.
Part of that is the reason why he has such a strong rivalry with Silver, who he grew up with. Silver is accepted by the fae without much struggle despite being human. He was raised by Lilia, well-known and powerful. It goes against what Sebek learned, and he's conflicted because he both wants what Silver has but also to be seen as better than him. However, their squabbles are pushed aside in times of trouble, and they make a very good team when it counts.
Sebek can be quite gullible and an easy target to tease, especially when Malleus, Lilia, or authority figures are involved. He'll take their word as truth again and again. He seeks their approval and is quick to apologize when they point him out as wrong. He's just as quick to tears and despair when placed on the opposite team as Malleus... and then apologetic and determined when Lilia teased that his team wasn't good enough. Sebek will be upset when someone doesn't know how great Malleus is and could be convinced to do something as long as he gets to tell them about Malleus after.
His insecurity shows more during his lessons. He answers loud and confident, belittling his own effort, but he also dislikes being watched, having to tell himself to calm down and maintain focus. He struggles with control and appears overjoyed (not collected) at getting the right answer. He doesn't want to fail in front of others, and worse, prove his fears that they are right, and he is nothing but a stain on his family and country.

Notes: I remember seeing a mod question relating to the differences between the Japanese release and the English release of the game, questioning if they should be split into two. I have no preference between keeping the canon one or dividing the two sources. I am just clarifying for the sake of spoilers from the Japanese game and terminology use.
